L-3 Communications [LLL] on Thursday said it has created a Commercial Training Solutions division that brings together two separate business units to drive efficiencies, provide a more comprehensive set of solutions, and present a unified front to customers.

The two units that have been consolidated are global flight simulator manufacturer L-3 Link UK, and global airline pilot training and resourcing organization L-3 CTC Aviation.

“By bringing together these two world-class performers, L-3 now offers a seamless, one-stop shop that provides customized and affordable solutions to support the global commercial aviation training marketplace,” Steve Kantor, president of L-3’s Electronic Systems segment, said in a statement. “Given the global pilot shortage and the growing need for pilot training at all proficiency levels, we are now optimally positioned to serve this market with our technical expertise and leading innovative products and capabilities, which will help us capture key synergies, grow our customer base, and expand our product and service portfolio.”

The Commercial Training Solutions Division is within the Precision Engagement & Training sector in Kantor’s segment.

The new division is based in the United Kingdom and is led by Aland Crawford, who stated, “L-3 Commercial Training Solutions offers a comprehensive, value-added portfolio to deliver uniquely targeted solutions that meet our customers’ total scope of training, resourcing and simulation needs.”
