Aerospace and electronics manufacturer HEICO Corp. [HEI] on Tuesday said it has acquired Carbon by Design, a manufacturer of composite components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), rockets, spacecraft and other applications, further expanding the company’s composites capabilities.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. HEICO said the acquisition is expected to be accretive to its earnings within the first year following closing of the transaction.

“Carbon by Design continues our expansion in proprietary composites solutions for extremely demanding technical requirements,” Laurans Mendelson, HEICO’s chairman and CEO, and Eric Mendelson, the company’s co-president, said in a statement. They said Carbon by Design has been “differentiated … with creative and cutting-edge high-tech processes, and broadens our offerings to the commercial aviation market, and growing space launch, satellite and UAV markets. We welcome the entire Carbon by Design team.”

The acquisition was done by HEICO’s Flight Support Group, which provides parts and repair to defense and commercial aerospace aircraft and engines.

Dominick Consalvi, co-founder of California-based Carbon by Design, will continue to lead the company as part of HEICO’s Specialty Products Group. Carbon by Design has 75 employees.
