General Electric’s [GE] Homeland Protection unit has deployed and activated 17 EntryScan walk-through explosive trace detection portals for passenger screening at Poland’s Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport. Contract terms were not disclosed. The deployment is the largest application of walk-through explosive trace detection portals for aviation security in Europe, GE says. EntryScans are deployed to nearly 40 airports through the U.S. although the Transportation Security Administration halted further installations last year due to maintenance difficulties with the machines.
