The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to determine the feasibility of low cost ($100 to $200) and low power security cameras with memory that is hardened against possible explosive forces. DHS seeks responses to determine industry interest and to further refine technical requirements for the device reference design. DHS says that based on discussions with state and local law enforcement agencies, including mass transit agencies, some of the following factors are desirable: wide area coverage; small form factor (2 inches by 2 inches by 1.5 inches or less); variable frame rate; smart activation, low power; blast and tamper resistance; and rolling storage. Sol. No. HSHQDC-RFI-08-CAMR. Respond by Jan. 18. Contact: Elizabeth Moya, contract specialist, 202-254-5619, [email protected].
