Morpho Detection Says Reduced Size EDS Deliveries to Begin in 2014

Morpho Detection Inc. (MDI) says that it will begin deliveries in early 2014 of its CTX 5800 reduced-size Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) under a new contract with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The initial delivery will consist of two units. TSA awarded the potential five-year, $133 million contract to MDI in November. The company says it will supply stand-alone CTX 58000 EDS systems as well as ancillary equipment and other services as needed. MDI is part of France’s Safran Group

Elbit Selected by DHS to Provide Technology Demonstrator for First Responders

Israel’s Elbit Systems says that its U.S. subsidiary has been selected by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate to provide a technology demonstrator for a secure broadband services solution for first responders. The company says the solution will enable “any-to-any” secure, interoperable, multimedia services with seamless connectivity between various commercial broadband cellular networks, FirstNet LTE Band 14 and the existing P25 land mobile radio infrastructure. The solutions incorporates the BlackBerry 10 secure workspace within an Android smartphone and will demonstrate an advanced interoperable communication solution for many federal agencies as well as state and local public safety authorities nationwide.

Implant Sciences Announces New Sales

Implant Sciences [IMSC] says it has sold over $600,000 worth of its QS-B220 desktop and QS-H150 handheld explosive trace detectors to customer in five different continents. The systems will be used in various applications including aviation security, military and defense, police protection, and critical infrastructure protection for embassies and oil and gas facilities.
