After Corrective Action, CBP Awards $1.3 Billion Aircraft Logistics Contract To PAE
PAE has won a potential $1.3 billion contract by Customs and Border Protection for aircraft maintenance and logistics services, maintaining its incumbency on a program after DynCorp International
[DI] was first selected by the agency last May as the awardee after the program was recompeted. The award to DynCorp was protested by PAE and Vertex Aerospace, which also lost out on the recompete. The contract to DynCorp, before it was withdrawn, was worth $1.4 billion over 10 and a half years. CBP said the award to PAE has a one-year base period, nine one-year options, and a three-month extension. The award covers 211 fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft used in various missions for interdiction, domain awareness, contingency operations, investigations and national taskings, CBP said. The aircraft, which are supported at 34 locations in the Western Hemisphere, include various sensors such as radar, electro-optical and infrared systems. PAE’s contract doesn’t cover CBP’s fleet of P-3 surveillance aircraft and Predator unmanned aircraft systems. Services for these aircraft are provided under separate contracts.
DHS Awards Meridian $13M for Performance and Learning Management System
The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Meridian Knowledge Solutions a potential $12.9 million contract to provide various software-as-a-service services for the department’s Performance and Learning Management System (PALM). The services include subscription, training, help desk support, operations and maintenance support, performance and capacity management, enhancement, and decommissioning and disposal. Meridian is the supplier of the proprietary PALM software application. The ordering period under the Blanket Purchase Agreement is for two years.
Ascent Vision Delivers CUAS System to DoD
Ascent Vision Technologies (AVT) says it has completed deliveries of several units of its eXpeditionary Mobile Air Defense Integrated System (X-MADIS) to a non-Defense Department customer for counter unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS) operations. The delivery includes the latest variant of X-MADIS, which AVT says incorporates technology innovations for improved portable, on-the-move capabilities on combating small UAS (sUAS). The system combines radar with a radio frequency detection sensor, ensuring no sUAS goes undetected while offering greater reliability in detection, classification and location of one or multiple sUAS simultaneously. The company also says the electro-optical/infrared imaging system allows for accurate identification of sUAS in all light conditions and has zoom capabilities for long-range identification. The system also includes an electronic warfare system for neutralizing drone threats. The latest X-MADIS also feature improved power distribution, simpler setup, and new hardware components for CUAS on-the-move in rough terrain.
EU Police Forces Choose DroneShield’s Counter UAS Device
DroneShield says that following a competitive tender run by the Belgium police, the European Union police forces have selected the company’s DroneGun Tactical product. The company said the selection means its product is expected to be rolled out across a range of police units in the European Union. DroneGun Tactical, a rifle-like portable device, can disrupt multiple radio frequency bands and also has an optional GPS disruption capability. The device has a 2-kilometer range and immediately ceases video transmission back to the drone operator. “This is the first framework rollout of counter-drone equipment by any government customer, anywhere in the world,” says Oleg Vornik, DroneShield’s CEO. “In addition to the substantial nature of this contract, we expect this to set a standard for DroneGun Tactical procurement by other government customers in the EU and globally, helping fast-track additional acquisitions.”
