Smiths Detection Nabs $41M Follow-on Order from DNDO for RIIDs
Smiths Detection says it has received a $40.9 million task order from the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) for its RadSeeker handheld radioisotope detector and identifier (RIID). The task order follows an initial $1.3 million order the company received as part of a potential $143 million single-award indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract the company won last fall to provide various DHS components with RIIDs. RadSeeker detects, helps locate, and identifies the source of radiological material and is used by Customs and Border Protection, emergency responders and law enforcement agencies around the world.
CATSA Orders More ETDs from Implant Sciences
Implant Sciences [IMSC] has received a standing order from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) for up to 340 QS-B220 desktop explosives trace detectors (ETDs). Implant has previously sold 112 QS-B220 to CATSA. Under the new order, the ETDs will be deployed over the next two years to Canadian airports for passenger and baggage screening.
Coast Guard Contracts with Insitu for ScanEagle Services
In a first for the Coast Guard, the service has awarded Boeing’s [BA] Insitu business unit a potential $12.3 million to begin operating a contractor-owned ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system aboard a National Security Cutter (NSC). The initial task order is for $4.5 million and includes operation, integration, maintenance and sparing of a ScanEagle for one year. The Coast Guard will own all of the surveillance data obtained through ScanEagle operations. The task order is potentially worth $12.3 million for three additional years and would cover options for deployment of and data from the small UAS capability. The task order was awarded through an existing multiple award contract the Naval Air Systems Command has with different UAS vendors. Last July the Coast Guard conducted operational demonstrations with ScanEagle in the Northwest Passage simulating search and rescue exercises, and concurrent operations with manned aircraft. In 2013 the Coast Guard conducted nine days of ScanEagle operations aboard its Bertholf NSC in a test that included two drug interdictions that resulted in the seizure of more than 600 kilograms of cocaine and six detainees who were later prosecuted.
OSI Nabs $9M in International Security Orders
OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received two orders from an international customer valued at $9 million for multiple security detection systems. The customer was not disclosed. The orders are for multiple units of Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems, 600 series baggage and parcel inspection systems, Metor metal detectors, and related services and support.
FEMA Awards SC&A $10M for CBRNE Support
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded SC&A, Inc., a potential three-year, $10 million contact to provide the agency program management support for its CBRNE Office, which consists of the Improvised Nuclear Device and CBRNE Programs Unit. The contract has a base year and two one-year options. SC&A, an employee-owned small business, will support readiness operations and other support actions during exercises. The company will also perform analysis as tasked and participate in meetings.
DHS Awards eGlobalTech Contract for Support Services
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Off ice of the Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Services Office (ITSO) has awarded eGlobalTech a contract to provide enterprise-wide Infrastructure Support Services. eGlobalTech says the main objective of the contract is to support the planning, management, deployment, and maintenance of systems and services needed to complete the ITSO mission. The value of the award wasn’t disclosed. Last month the company received a contract from the Transportation Security Administration to support the agency’s Office of Information Technology.
