The State Department has approved a potential $53 million sale of air-to-air missiles to the Netherlands for use by that country’s air force, a Pentagon agency said on Wednesday.

The sale includes 26 AIM-120 C-7 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM), one AMRAAM guidance section spare, 20 captive carry training missiles, missile containers, test equipment, weapons systems support and other related items. Raytheon [RTN] manufactures AMRAAM.

Earlier this month the State Department approved a potential $113 million sale of AMRAAMs to the government of Japan.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the proposed sale to the Dutch government will help a NATO ally and help that country in its mutual defense efforts. The Netherlands currently has AIM-120Bs in its inventory.
