Analytical AI has received $199,536 from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate to develop deep learning algorithms for object identification to help the Transportation Security Administration officers rapidly and accurately identify common stream of commerce items in carry-on bags. The Phase 1 award to the Alabama-based company was made under the Silicon Valley Innovation Program’s “Object Recognition and Adaptive Algorithms in Passenger Property Screening” solicitation. “With appropriate training, deep learning techniques can match or exceed human expert accuracy and augment the efficiency of the screening process,” says Karly Harris, S&T’s Object Recognition Program Manager. Companies participating in the SVIP are eligible to receive up to $800,000 over four phases to develop and adapt commercial technologies for homeland security uses.
DroneShield
says that in March its portable RfZero drone detection system was installed for a U.S. law enforcement agency, giving them real-time drone detection security and situational awareness. The Australia-based company also says the RfZero will receive the company’s next-generation deep learning detection software.
