The Department of Homeland Security Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office has awarded a non-competitive sole-source contract to Hassett & Willis Associates to provide systems engineering and technical assistance services to maintain support for early detection and response to a biological terrorism event for the BioWatch program. The award is a bridge contract for up to one year to allow for the continuation of SETA services while a new acquisition strategy and statement of work is put together for a competitive acquisition of these services. The value of the award wasn’t disclosed.

Brian Harrell, managing director for Enterprise Security at Duke Energy [DUK], has been nominated by President Donald Trump to be assistant secretary for Infrastructure Protection at the Department of Homeland Security National Protection and Programs Directorate. The Office of Infrastructure Protection coordinates national policies on critical infrastructure protection and resilience.
