Customs and Border Protection has begun to evaluate face recognition technology as part of its preclearance operations at Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport for one daily flight on Delta Airlines into John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The agency is already evaluating the technology at nine airports in the U.S. on select international departing flights as part of biometric exit checks to ensure foreign nationals are leaving the country in compliance with their visas. CBP operates a number of preclearance facilities in foreign ports and airports to facilitate travel to the U.S.

IBM [IBM] has received a $649,779.30 task order from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide professional support services for applications on the agency’s network. The three-month task order is a follow-on under the OASIS II Blanket Purchase Agreement.

InferLink Corp. has received a $750,000 contract from the Department of Homeland Security to develop an advanced search functionality for the Information Marketplace for Policy and Analysis of Cyber-risk Trust (IMPACT) cyber security research portal. IMPACT coordinates the collection of and develops real-world data and information sharing capabilities between and among academic, industry and government cyber security researchers.

The Coast Guard plans to award contract extensions to five contractors conducting design studies in support of the services’ new heavy polar icebreaker. The contract modifications will be awarded to Bollinger Shipyards, Fincantieri Marine Group, General Dynamics [GD], Huntington Ingalls Industries [HII] and ST Engineering’s VT Halter Marine, Inc.
