American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received $19.4 million in new contracts, including a $13.1 million service and maintenance renewal order from the Defense Department to support its fleet of Z Backscatter Vans (ZBVs). Most of the ZBVs are located in “high risk areas,” the company says. The company also received a $4 million order from a new African customer for multiple Z Backscatter Vans and SmartCheck personnel screening systems, including service and maintenance training, and extended warranty. Two of the ZBVs will be equipped with Forwardscatter capability. The systems will be used for checkpoint security. AS&E also received a $2.3 million service and maintenance renewal agreement from an undisclosed customer.
