Ahura Scientific, Inc. has introduced TruScreen, a handheld instrument that screens glass or plastic containers for liquid explosives threats. The company says that TruScreen can quickly distinguish between threat-listed materials, such as explosive substances and precursors, and benign substances that are safe to carry on board an aircraft. The device can analyze through the walls of translucent glass or plastic containers without direct contact with the substance in question. The target application for TruScreen is aviation checkpoints. The company says laboratory and operational trials are underway globally and that the device is shipping with limited availability.
