Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel previews the fiscal year 2015 budget request on Feb. 24 with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Navy has released documents detailing program funding profiles and Future Years Defense Plan projections, but the Army does not expect to do so until March 11 and the Air Force a few days later. In the meantime, our site update will focus on Navy programs, and we will update all Army and Air Force programs as soon as detailed budget information becomes available.

Today, the Pentagon is officially rolling out documents outlining the president’s fiscal 2015 budget request, which is sure to result in some key battles with Congress in the coming months that could make or break various defense programs. We will update all program reports with a detailed budget breakdown within 24 hours, providing complete information on what is in the budget request and how it compares to the previous year’s figures. Many of the program reports will be updated by this evening.

In addition, we will publish a special report tomorrow detailing what the implications of this budget request are for various programs that have a lot to gain — or lose. We’ll also have exclusive analysis throughout the week, found only here at Virtual Analyst, taking an in-depth look at the long-term prospects for these defense programs.
