TASC Nabs $54M in Task Orders to Support DNDO

TASC, Inc., has received three task orders worth a combined $54 million to provide the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) with advanced systems engineering and integration and other decision-support services. The task orders were awarded under the Systems Engineering Support Program (SESP), which has a ceiling value of $99 million for all awardees. ManTech International [MANT], Parsons Corp. and The Tauri Group are also on the SESP contract. TASC says it will provide full life-cycle support to the DNDO Architecture Directorate, the Product Acquisition and Deployment Directorate, and the Systems Engineering and Evaluation Directorate. Services will include mission and architecture analysis, systems engineering, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation. TASC says the task orders represent new work for the company with the Department of Homeland Security.

CGI’s Stanley Nabs Potential $114M State Dept. Award

Stanley Associates, a subsidiary of CGI Group’s [GIB] Federal division, has received a potential $114.2 million contract from the State Department to support the Bureau of Consular Affairs Global Support Strategy for Visa Services for India. The value of the award in the first year is $8.2 million. Support will include information services, appointment services, fee collection, document delivery, greeter services, and offsite biometric collection.

Kratos to Support U.S. Antarctic Program with Cyber Security Services

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. [KTOS] has received a $16 million subcontract from Lockheed Martin [LMT] to provide a full range of cyber security services as part of the U.S. Antarctic Program [USAP]. The National Science Foundation selected Lockheed Martin for the potential $2 billion USAP support contract in December. Kratos says its SecureInfo group will provide information security design, planning, implementation, and operations and maintenance for the terrestrial satellite and IT systems and infrastructure across the global USAP. The USAP’s program goals include understanding the region and how its ecosystems depend on the polar environment, understanding its effects on global processes such as climate, and using the region as a platform for fundamental research in every scientific discipline.

QNA Gets $5M Task Order to Provide Cyber Security Services to DoT

QinetiQ North America (QNA) has received a $4.7 million task order by the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center to provide cyber security services to protect the nation’s transportation control systems and critical infrastructure. Under the task order QNA will address cyber security requirements, evaluate cyber security tools and techniques, and develop standards for building a variety of secure systems. The company will also define technological requirements for systems and controls and analyze potential cyber threats and risks to critical infrastructures. The Volpe Center, part of the Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration, works with federal, state, local and international agencies to assess, research, develop and deploy transportation technologies and to support policy and decision making. The award is the first task order issued under Volpe’s Volpe-Transportation Information Project Support (V-TRIPS) contract. Abacus Technology, CSC [CSC], L-3 Communications [LLL], and Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies also compete for work under the potential $324 million V-TRIPS contract. QNA is the U.S.-based division of Britain’s QinetiQ.

AS&E Gets $3M to Service ZBV Mil Trailers

The Defense Department has awarded American Science & Engineering [ASEI] a $3.1 million contract for the service and maintenance of ZBV Military Trailers. “This order demonstrates the on-going commitment by the U.S. government to maintain and support its fleet of ZBV Mil Trailers with world-class service and support,” says Anthony Fabiano, the company’s president and CEO. The ZBV Mil Trailer is used to screen vehicles, cargo and containers for terrorist threats and contraband.

Implant Adds Middle East Customer for Benchtop Explosives Detector

Implant Sciences [IMSC] says it has shipped units of its Quantum Sniffer QS-220 benchtop explosives and narcotics trace detectors to a corporation in the Middle East that is integrating trace detection into its building security operations. The company says the order demonstrates its success with non-government customers. “Currently we are selling to corporate and non-government buyers for non-regulated applications as we move forward with certification processes required to participate in other market segments,” says Darryl Jones, the company’s Global Vice President of Sales and Marketing. So far Implant has sold the QS-B220s to customers in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. Separately, Implant says it has shipped units of its QS-H150 handheld explosives detectors to customers in Nigeria, Uganda and the Republic of Mali. The devices will be used in the banking, hotel and aviation security markets. “We are steadily expanding our presence in Africa through our channel and we expect to see further traction in the market,” says Glenn Bolduc, Implant’s president and CEO. Implant recently also sold 10 units of the QS-H150 to a customer in Romania, the first sale by the company’s Romanian-based distributor, Business Plus. The distributor serves aviation, law enforcement and military users.

Covenant Security Partners with DHS on Shooter Awareness, Response

Covenant Security Services (CSS) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to create a National Security Seminar and Exercise Program focused on active shooter awareness and proper response. The Active Shooter program addresses the importance of having an incident management plan for an active shooter or hostage situation at a critical infrastructure facility. DHS and CSS this summer will host one day seminars around the country for facility owners and operators to learn the key components of a critical response plan.

IDO Completes MagShoe Installation at Rome Airport

IDO Security [IDOI] has completed an order of its MagShoe 3G shoe scanning device in the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy. The devices were installed at the airport’s domestic and international gates. The airport is Italy’s largest and the sixth busiest in Europe, serving over 38 million passengers. IDO first installed MagShoe units at the airport in 2007. “We are proud to continue to serve one of Europe’s most vital airports with the installation of the new MagShoe 3G series,” says Avishai Rotshtain, marketing manager for IDO Security.
