MorphoTrust Nabs Potential $248M TSA Enrollment Services Contract
MorphoTrust USA, a business of France’s Safran Group, has won a potential five-year, $248 million contract to provide the Transportation Security Administration with a Universal Enrollment Service (UES). The UES will transition multiple enrollment systems, beginning with the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), into a consolidated service requiring enrollment and registration for programs serviced by TSA. Enrollment checks include biometrics such as facial photos and fingerprints and biographic data. In addition to TWIC, TSA manages the Hazardous Materials Endorsement Threat Assessment and others. The UES program eventually is expected to enroll over 600,000 applicants annually. MorphoTrust says it will provide applicant services via the web, telephone and in person at hundreds of centers, including in all 50 dates, the District of Columbia and U.S. Territories. “The system we will manage for TSA can be configured to meet the agency’s evolving security and operational needs, and will add convenience for workers through more locations and a one-stop-shop approach,” says Robert Eckel, CEO of MorphoTrust. Lockheed Martin [LMT] has been the prime contractor for TWIC with MorphoTrust as a partner. MorphoTrust, through its acquisition of L-1’s identity solutions business, has been in charge of enrolling workers into the Hazardous Materials program.
Coast Guard Awards EADS $78.5 Million For Two Maritime Patrol Aircraft
The Coast Guard has exercised a $78.5 million contract option with the North American division of European Aeronautical Defence and Space Co. (EADS) to purchase two HC-144A Ocean Sentry Maritime Patrol Aircraft. The purchase covers the 16th and 17th HC-144As the service has procured of a planned buy of 36 of the aircraft. The aircraft under the latest award are expected to be delivered in 2014. The option was awarded under a contract the Coast Guard signed with EADS in Aug. 2010 for the purchase of three aircraft with four options for up to six more aircraft. The contract value for the three aircraft was $117.2 million. The HC-144A is a version of the CN-235, a twin-engine transport plane used by a number of foreign militaries that is built by Spain’s CASA, a division of EADS. Lockheed Martin [LMT] supplies removable mission systems for the Coast Guard’s HC-144 fleet. So far 13 HC-144A aircraft have been delivered and the 14th aircraft is due for delivery this July.
Kratos Receives $12M Order for System to Protect Transportation Network Location
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] has received an $11.8 million contract to design, engineer, integrate and deploy a specialized surveillance and security system to help protect a major transportation network location in the U.S. The name of the customer was not disclosed. The security system will include surveillance and monitoring assets integrated into a command and control system infrastructure. “We are extremely pleased and honored to have been selected to deploy this very unique and sophisticated security system at this major transportation hub location,” says Ben Goodwin, president of Kratos’ Public Safety and Security Division.
AS&E Gets Orders from India, Eastern Europe
American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received orders from customers Eastern Europe and India for cargo and parcel inspection systems. The company has received a multi-million dollar order from Eastern Europe for a Sentry Portal cargo and vehicle screening system, a Z Backscatter Van, and multiple Gemini parcel and baggage X-Ray screening systems. The exact dollar value of the order and the customer were not disclosed. It has also received an order for 36 Gemini systems, both Gemini 6040 and Gemini 100100 systems, to protect a high-threat commercial facility in India. The systems will be used to inspect parcels, baggage and delivery goods at various checkpoints in the facility.
OSI Systems Nabs $5M Mid East Contract for Inspection Systems
OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received a $5 million contract from a customer in the Middle East to supply multiple units of its Eagle X-Ray-based cargo and vehicle inspection system. The company will provide its gantry-based Eagle G60.
Implant Sciences Ships QS-H150s to Several Countries
Implant Sciences [IMSC] has shipped additional units of its handheld Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 explosives trace detector to customers in three countries, Britain, Taiwan and India. Applications include building security and bomb squad support. The India order is the first sales by Implant’s distributor, Cosmic Innotech Solution Pvt Ltd. “I am pleased to welcome Cosmic Innotech Solution to Implant Sciences’ growing list of successful channel partners,” says Glenn Bolduc, Implant’s president and CEO. The company has now sold over 1,500 explosive trace detection systems to customers in over 30 countries.
NICE Solutions Installed in CBP’s Air and Marine Operations Center
NICE [NICE] says that Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) is using its solutions to record and manage mission critical voice communications used for investigations and debriefing. NICE’s NiceLog and NICE Inform are being used to manage critical communications from the tactical operations hub of the AMOC to local law enforcement and other agencies throughout the U.S. The recording are used to gather historical data, and for post-event analysis to increase AMOC’s readiness during similar events. The AMOC supports CBP’s Office of Air and Marine. The AMOC monitors over 250 radar sources and tracks tens of thousands of air and marine movements daily.
IDO Delivers MagShoe to Nigerian Airports Authority
IDO Security [IDOI.OB] has completed deliveries of the initial order for its MagShoe 3G shoe scanning device to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. IDO and its local partner in Nigeria, Security World Ltd, won the order for the procurement and installation of multiple units at some of the country’s airports. Nigeria represents a new customer for IDO. The company hopes the initial deployments lead to interest from other customers in the country.
L-3 EO/IR Camera Ordered for Irish Coast Guard
L-3 Communications [LLL] says its Wescam unit has received an order from CHS Ireland Ltd to provide MX-15 electro-optical and infrared imaging systems for installation on S-92 search and rescue helicopters deployed to Ireland in support of the Irish Coast Guard’s fleet replacement program. The installation of the turrets will be done by United Technologies Corp.’s [UTX] Sikorsky Aircraft, which makes the S-92. The first system was delivered in January and the remaining systems are slated to be delivered during 2013.
