This incisive, informative webinar will answer these urgent questions:

      - How real is the threat of another terrorist attack?
      - What forms might a new attack take?
      - What steps can be taken to counter and lessen or eliminate devastating losses?

Both Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff have warned that the seminal question isn't whether there will be another attack, but rather when it will occur.

"The threat posed by violent Islamic extremism is real, and it is not going away," Secretary Gates said in 2008.

"You know all too well about the attacks in Madrid and London, " he said. "But there have also been multiple smaller attacks in Istanbul, Amsterdam, Paris, and Glasgow, among others.  Numerous cells and plots have been disrupted in recent years as well -- many of them seeking large-scale death and destruction."

Secretary Chertoff, too, warned that a calamitous attack is all too possible. Just weeks after the agonizing 9/11 attacks, he delivered this stark appraisal: "Since September 11th [Osama] bin Laden and his co-conspirators have brazenly announced that they will kill more of us. He and his followers actually believe they have a duty to kill Americans. And those are not my words; those are his words."

If anything, his message has become more urgent and focused in recent years.

How will this affect you?

Join us for an hour of penetrating, timely analysis to get the answer to that question.

Speakers Include:

Dr. Daniel Goure, Vice President, The Lexington Group and a specialist in
defense including homeland security, will present an overview of the threat
environment:  where the United States stands as it approaches the seventh
anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  Dr. Goure, an eminent military analyst, has
testified before Congress, delivered clear, thoughtful overviews before symposia in
                           Washington and elsewhere.

Representative Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) will provide an in-depth examination of the ultimate terrorist threat, Electromagnetic Pulse, which would create unprecedented devastation across the United States. Congressman Bartlett is the ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittee, and a scientist and professor. He will explain just what EMP is, how such an attack would have an enormous, lethal effect nationwide, and what steps could mitigate or counter it.

What equipment do I need?

For the audio connection:

  • A computer with RealPlayer or Windows Media Player installed. When you log into the Virtual Seminar, your computer will be taken through a brief configuration check and will let you know if you're missing any software.
  • If you do not have RealPlayer or Windows, a touch-tone telephone will work also. It works best to use a speakerphone so that others can listen too.

For the Internet connection:

  • PC: 166Mhz Pentium-based PC or better
  • Operating system: Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP
  • Browser: For optimal viewing experience, we recommend using Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. However, any version of IE 4.0 or higher will work. For Netscape, only versions 4.x are supported at this time.
