The U.S. Department of State has issued a Request for Proposals for the acquisition and implementation of a national Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to be used for law enforcement criminal identification purposes by El Salvador. El Salvador’s current criminal fingerprint program is managed by the Policia Nacional Civil and has a card-based 10-print database of over 250,000 records.
