U.S. Cyber Command is building on its capacity for cyber mission warfare support with a potential five-year, $93 million task order to Science Applications International Corp. [SAIC] to help coordinate logistical services to the J3 joint operations center.

SAIC is tasked with integrating operational planning for cyber space missions under the J3 and will support USCYBERCOM in its effort to secure the Department of Defense Information Network.iStock Cyber Lock

“USCYBERCOM’s strategic cyberspace environment is complex and rapidly evolving. SAIC is proud to support the J3 by helping to coordinate and synchronize offensive and defense cyberspace operations that aim to protect our nation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” Mark Escobar, senior vice president and general manager of SAIC’s national security customer group, said in a statement on Wednesday. “This important, new task order and our current work supporting USCENTCOM (U.S. Central Command) Joint Cyber Centers (JCC) positions SAIC as a leader in the cyber operations space. Our Cyber Institute trainers and Cyber Operations team look forward to bringing innovation and value to USCYBERCOM.”

Earlier this July, SAIC received a seven-year, $621 million task order to assist USCENTCOM with its global information technology directorate (Defense Daily, July 19)

This latest task order with USCYBERCOM is part of larger multiple award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract awarded to SAIC and several other companies in May (Defense Daily, May 24). SAIC was one of six awardees included on the five-year, $460 million contract to provide cyber operations services to USCYBERCOM.

Under the latest award deal, SAIC will assist in coordinating and de-conflicting efforts between DoD cyber forces and synchronize DoD cyberspace operations. SAIC will also help develop J3 training objectives, and participate in the planning of joint cyber exercises and the integration of full-spectrum cyber operations.

The task order has a one-year base period and four one-year options.
