Safariland Group yesterday said it has acquired Tactical Command Industries, Inc. (TCI), a provider of tactical communication headset systems, adding to its growing portfolio of industry brands serving the public safety, military, professional and outdoor markets.

TCI is a communications integration company and provides both customized headset products and commercial-off-the-shelf products. The company’s customers range from S.W.A.T. teams and to tactical law enforcement to the military and defense prime contractors.

TCI provides Safariland with a new product line with the communications headsets, which can be integrated with its PROTECH armored head gear that is sold to S.W.A.T. teams and tactical law enforcers, Warren Kanders, head of Kanders & Co., the security consulting firm that owns Safariland, told Defense Daily.

“The addition of the TCI tactical communications line to our business allows us to expand our offerings to our core tactical customer while at the same time positioning the brand for growth through our distribution network, both in the U.S. and internationally,” Scott O’Brien, president of Safariland Group, said in a statement.  “TCI will be a great addition to our tactical product offerings and complements our PROTECH tactical armor brand, a technological leader in protective tactical hard and soft armor. Furthermore, TCI’s customized solutions for the special needs of tactical teams distinguishes them from competitors and is consistent with our commitment to be the premier solutions provider to our customers.”

TCI has operations in California and New Hampshire. TCI’s financial adviser on the deal was D.A. Davidson.

The acquisition of TCI comes a week after Safariland acquired the Med-Eng explosive ordnance disposal and crew survivability business of Allen-Vanguard Corp. Med-Eng provides its brand of EOD bomb suits, remotely operated vehicles and crew survivability products such as customized blast attenuation seats and thermal management systems to law enforcement and military customers.

Safariland has 24 brand names, including Second Chance, Hatch, Bianchi, and others.
