General Dynamics [GD] on Tuesday said its board of directors has elected Rudy deLeon to the board, adding an official with a broad range of government and industry policy experience.

DeLeon is currently a senior fellow with the Center for American Progress, with a focus on the defense budget, national security, the Middle East and politics, and previously headed Boeing’s [BA] lobbying operations in Washington, DC for five years.

DeLeon was also a professional staff member and staff director of the House Armed Services Committee under former chairman and Wisconsin Democrat Les Aspin, deputy secretary of Defense, undersecretary of defense for Personnel and Readiness, and undersecretary of the Air Force. DeLeon also worked in the Senate.

“Rudy brings a wealth of experience and his insights on defense policy make him a valuable addition to our board,” Phebe Novakovic, GD’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

DeLeon has been with the Center for American Progress since 2007. The Washington, DC-based think tank describes itself as a progressive, non-partisan educational institute.
