The Army Armament Research Development and Engineering Center’s (ARDEC) Homeland Defense Technologies Division has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) under the Project National Shield initiative in support of ARDEC’s interoperable system of systems integration initiatives to enable timely access to shared sensitive information across all levels on a regional and national scale that maximizes resources to recognize, protect and prevent terrorist attacks and respond to natural disasters. Project National Shield focuses on the systemic challenges facing DoD in its homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities mission sets with the goal of improving joint military and civilian capabilities in such critical areas as communications and collaboration, preparedness training support, and building trusted relationships.
