The State Department notified Congress on Monday of a proposed $250 million deal with Saudi Arabia to continue a Naval training program with the country.

Saudi Arabia requested the contract which would include professional military education, technical training, U.S. government contracting services, logistical services and support for the Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF).

The proposed contract would enable the RSNF to maintain current maintain military performance levels and provide improved ability to handle maritime threats, according to a State Department release.

The Naval training program was among the items included in the package of proposed defense sales to Saudi Arabia that was recently announced to Congress, according to an administration official.

If the contract is approved, the deal would assign around 88 contractor representatives to Saudi Arabia for three years to provide personnel training.

The prime contractor for the deal would be Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] out of San Diego, CA.
