Northrop Grumman [NOC] on Monday said it is splitting a division focused on intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and targeting activities into two businesses focused on airborne and space ISR to improve focus in each area.

The ISR and Targeting Systems Division (ISR&TSD) within Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems Sector is being broken into the Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance and Targeting Systems, and the Space Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance Systems divisions.

Michael Hinkey, most recently vise president and general manager of Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics, has been named to lead Airborne ISR & Targeting Systems as vice president and general manager. The business has programs and operations in Maryland and Illinois.

Joseph Ensor, who previously led ISR&TSD, will serve as vice president and general manager of the Space ISR Systems division. The business has activities in Maryland, California and Colorado.

“This strategic realignment of our ISR business activities will better position the company for a broad and exciting portfolio of future growth opportunities in both the airborne and space domains,” Gloria Flach, president of Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, said in a statement. “Ensuring the success of our airborne and space ISR customers’ programs is of critical importance to the nation and the company.”
