Northrop Grumman [NOC] opened a new cyber facility in Glouchestershire, United Kingdom, the company said on Tuesday.
The new facility is planned to accommodate the company’s growing cyber workforce of almost 100 employees with room for future expansion. The facility will focus on developing capabilities in big data and smart analytics, network defense, secure mobility, biometrics, high speed processing, and full spectrum cyber.
The facility will also host the company’s Advanced Cyber Technology Centre, an international collaboration initiative announced in November 2014, the company said.
“This new facility represents an important resource for Northrop Grumman and our cyber customers in the U.K. and significantly enhances the range of U.K.-based expertise and capabilities that we can offer. It will enable industry, customers, partners and academia to collaborate in one location to help solve some of the challenges of today’s complex and highly dynamic threat environment,” Andrew Tyler, chief executive at Northrop Grumman Europe, said in a statement.
“We are committed to continuing to build a sovereign U.K. cyber workforce that is able to deliver innovations to help protect our customers against the increasingly sophisticated cyber threat environment,” Kathy Warden, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Information Systems, added.
Northrop Grumman has also partnered with Cyber Security Challenge U.K. to promote CyberCenturion, a youth-based cyber defense competition. The first U.K. national finals competition will be held on Friday at the National Museum of Computing, Bletchley Park.
