Clayton Jones, chairman, president and CEO of Rockwell Collins [COL], is the new chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the powerful defense-contractors and aerospace industry organization.

The AIA board of governors elected Jones to serve as its chairman for this year, and he took office with AIA on Jan. 1.

Jones succeeds William Swanson, chairman and CEO of Raytheon [RTN], in the post. Robert Stevens, chairman, president and CEO, Lockheed Martin [LMT], was elected AIA’s vice chairman.

The board also elected Marion Blakey as AIA’s president and CEO, a move announced earlier, as well as AIA’s Ginette C. Colot as secretary-treasurer.

AIA also announced other leaders of the influential lobbying group who will serve this year: Those on the 2008 board of governors Executive Committee are:

  • James Albaugh, executive vice president, Boeing [BA], and president & CEO of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems

  • Blakey. She is the former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.

  • Nicholas Chabraja, chairman and CEO, General Dynamics [GD]

  • Kenneth Dahlberg, chairman and CEO of Science Applications International [SAI]

  • Scott Donnelly, president and CEO, GE [GE] Aviation

  • Stephen Finger, president, Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies [UTX]

  • Robert Gillette, president and CEO, Honeywell [HON] Aerospace

  • James Guyette, president and CEO, Rolls-Royce North America.

  • Walter Havenstein, COO, BAE Systems and president and CEO, BAE Systems, Inc.

  • Mary Howell, executive vice president, Textron Inc. [TXT]
