The White House Jan. 22 sent the Senate the nomination of Nelson Ford as under secretary of the Army.

If confirmed, Ford would take the position previously held by now-Army Secretary Pete Geren.

Ford has been acting under secretary (Defense Daily, Dec. 5).

In 2006, Ford was confirmed as Army assistant secretary–financial management and comptroller. He was principal deputy assistant secretary at the time of his nomination. Prior to that, he was deputy assistant secretary of defense for health budgets and financial management, responsible for the financial performance of the defense health program and Tricare. Overall, Ford has more than a decade of executive branch experience.
