MotionDSP has introduced a new video forensics software it calls Ikena Reveal that works quickly on standard computer software, and with automated algorithms that make it easier for more security professionals to use, to provide higher resolution for better evidence collection. MotionDSP. Ikena Reveal combines information from multiple video frames to more clearly reveal detail from a scene using standard Windows-based desktop and laptop computers and without the need a to send the information to a forensic technician, who may be inundated with video evidence. The new software means that users don’t have to enhance all the video evidence because it is done automatically, Sean Varah, CEO of MotionDSP tells TR2. He says Ikena Reveal represents the first major advance in video forensic software technology in the past 10 years. The company quotes Robert Sanderson, president of Audio Video Forensic Labs as saying the new technology brings out fine details, such as clothing logos from video footage shot more than 100 feet away. Ikena Reveal, which was funded through a strategic investment by the Central Intelligence Agency’s venture capital arm In-Q-Tel, will quickly find customers within the intelligence community, Varah says. He says the technology works well with video shot by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles because the software deals well with both camera and object motion. The law enforcement community is also interested in the software, Varah says. He also says the technology will enhance video taken by cheap digital cameras and cell phones.
