The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected ManTech International Corp. [MANT] as the main support firm for its Strategic Technologies Office (STO) with a potentially $200 million multi-year contract announced August 1.
ManTech will provide critical analysis and risk assessment for the DARPA office tasked with researching and developing military technologies, specifically Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) tools. The contract was finalized on June 20, and begins with a first-year initial base contract followed by four one-year options.
“DARPA STO is central to the nation’s C4ISR capabilities, which strengthen America’s fighting edge,” President and COO of ManTech’s Mission Solutions & Services Group Daniel Keefe said in a statement. “ManTech will continue its support of DARPA with some of the best scientists, engineers, operational analysts, and financial experts in the country.”
This latest contract follows up ManTech’s previous deal with DARPA’s STO and Technical Technology Office, where the Virginia-based technology firm provided engineering services and analysis.
“DARPA’s Strategic Technology Office is focused on technologies that enable fighting as a network to increase military effectiveness, cost leverage, and adaptability. STO’s mission areas include but are not limited to: Battle Management, Command and Control; Communications and Networks; Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance; Electronic Warfare; Positioning, Navigation, and Timing; and Foundational Strategic Technologies and Systems,” ManTech’s Executive Director for Space & Advanced Technologies Kevork Juskalian told sister publication Defense Daily.
Under the deal, ManTech will provide input to DARPA’s program managers in support of concept development, risk assessment and recommendations for new program concepts and technologies. The firm will also conduct technical analysis of capabilities DARPA is testing and assist with portfolio support to help with STO research efforts.
