Lockheed Martin [LMT] has received a $1.1 billion deal to provide Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS) to Bahrain, Poland and Romania, the Pentagon said Wednesday.

Deliveries of the GMLRS rockets to the three countries is expected to be completed in August 2021.

Poland originally requested GMLRS rockets in 2017, with the State Department in 2017 approving the purchase, which also included Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (Defense Daily, Nov. 28,2017).

In August 2017, a possible $1.3 billion rocket deal with Romania was approved, which included GMLRS along with Lockheed Martin’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems launchers (Defense Daily, Aug. 21, 2017).

Last October, the State Department approved rocket deal with Bahrain after it requested 120 GMLRS M31 unitary rocket pods equipped with 720 rockets (Defense Daily, Oct. 4, 2018).

Lockheed Martin is currently working on development of an extended range version of the GMLRS for the Army to reach ranges of up to 150 km., with plans to run a qualification flight test in 2020.
