Lockheed Martin [LMT] on Tuesday debuted the iSpace (intelligent Space) software system to protect assets and missions in space.

iSpace will provide defense, civil, commercial, and international customers with sensor data processing, space domain awareness, command and control, and battle management capabilities in the space domain, the company said.

The system’s software will task, process, and correlate data from an international network of government, commercial, and scientific community sensors and command centers, Lockheed Martin said. After also garnering information from optical, radar, infrared, and radio sensors, the iSpace system plans to automatically provide information to users about what is happening in real-time and also recommend the best course of action

The company highlighted iSpace has analytics and fusion capabilities that allow for the proactive management of space events including collisions, maneuvers, break-ups, launches, and co-orbital threats. The system architecture is also net-centric, open, and scalable with a user display configurable to be quickly integrated into many environments for modeling, simulation, experimentation, or operational use.

“Space is an important and valuable domain that has changed from a safe environment to one that is congested and threatened. Through the predictive analytic capabilities provided by iSpace, the unknown becomes known, providing decision makers with the ability to quickly understand the operational picture and respond appropriately,” Dr. Rob Smith, vice president of C4ISR for Lockheed Martin, said in a statement.
