L-3 Communications [LLL] yesterday said it has realigned some of its businesses in its Specialized Products segment to form the $1.2 billion Marine and Power Systems Group, enhancing the customer focus of the business area.

“We are taking an increasingly integrated approach to business,” Michael Strianese, president and CEO of L-3, said in a statement. “This realignment will help strengthen organic growth, provide a more unified focus upon the customer and broaden our systems capability.”

The new group will consist of the Power and Control Automation, Navigation, Undersea Warfare, Offshore, and Ocean Systems businesses. Marine and Power Systems will be led by Steven Kantor, who is currently president of the Power and Control Systems Group.
