L-3 Communications [LLL] this week appointed Steve Kantor, currently the president of its Services Group, to be president of the Electronic Systems Group.
Kantor will succeed James Dunn, who will retire in December. The Electronic Systems Group falls within L-3’s Electronic Systems segment, one of the company’s four reporting segments.
L-3 also said that Les Rose has been appointed a senior vice president of the company and president of its National Security Solutions Group, which falls within the current L-3 Services Group.
The Services Group, which is part of L-3’s Government Services Segment, will be spun-off next month into a roughly $2 billion independent, publicly traded firm that will focus on system engineering and technical assistance, training, and operational support to the Defense Department and other customers. L-3 last July said it would spin off the new company, which will be called Engility, to deal with Organizational Conflict of Interest rules that have been issued by the federal government and because of price pressure on government services work due to shifts to new contract types (Defense Daily, July 29, 2011).
L-3 said the new appointments are effective on July 31 and that Kantor and Rose will report to Michael Strianese, L-3’s chairman, president and CEO.
