The State Department approved a possible $65.3 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) request to Iraq for AC-208 aircraft and related equipment, training, and support.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the potential sale on Oct. 6.

The sale would include two Cessna [TXT] AC-208 aircraft, which also include dual rail LAU-131 Hellfire launcher capability on each wing, AN/ALE-47 electronic countermeasure dispenser, AN/AAR-60 Missile Launch Warning System, AN/AAQ-35 ElectroOptical Infrared Imaging System, contractor aircraft modifications, spare parts, publication updates, aircraft ferry, and miscellaneous parts.

The primary contractor for this sale is Orbital ATK [OA].

Iraq originally purchased three AC-208s and three C-208 aircraft in 2008. Iraq uses the Cessnas to to support military operations against al-Qaeda affiliate and Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) forces.

“These two additional aircraft will allow the Iraqi Air Force to continue its fight against ISIL,” DSCA said in a statement.

Implementation of the sale would not require additional U.S. representatives to work in Iraq.
