The State Department approved a possible $47 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) request to Indonesia for AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder Missiles and associated equipment, parts and logistical support.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the potential sale on Tuesday.
The primary contractor would be Raytheon [RTN].
The requested FMS would include 30 AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder Block II All-Up-Round Missiles, 20 AIM-9X-2 Captive Air Training Missiles (CATM), two CATM-9X-2 Block II Tactical Missile Guidance Units, four CATM-9X-2 Block II Guidance Units, and two Dummy Air Training Missiles, containers, and test sets and support equipment.
The sale would also include spare and repair parts, publications and technical documents, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. government and contractor technical assistance, and other related elements of logistics and program support.
This sale would improve Indonesia’s capability in current and future coalition efforts, DSCA said. The Sidewinder missiles support Indonesia’s efforts to become a more capable defensive force and will provide key elements required for interoperability with U.S. forces.
Implementation of the FMS may require additional U.S. government or contractor personnel to be assigned to Indonesia on a temporary basis in conjunction with program technical and management oversight and support requirements.
