The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) air and land forces subcommittee provided $631 million of authorizations for Army precision-guided missiles and rockets.

That amount was contained in one portion of the overall defense authorization bill for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2009, that the full HASC will consider at a “markup” session on Wednesday.

In addition, the subcommittee left for the full committee whether to provide an added $246 million for the counter-rocket, artillery and mortar system.

For its part, the subcommittee draft of the authorization bill ordered restrictions on any obligation of funds for the EQ-36 radar system until the Army reports to Congress on future plans for the counter-rocket, artillery and mortar program.
