General Dynamics [GD] was awarded a $23 million contract for updates and revisions to logistic requirements and data, except provisioning, for the Buffalo A2 M1272 vehicle by the U.S. Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command, the company said on Tuesday.

The contract type is firm-fixed-price-multi-year. In addition to the upgrades GD is to complete a total system support package.

One bid was solicited and one received for the contract, the Army said.

The Buffalo A2 is an armored truck designed to protect occupants from mines and improvised explosive devices. Inspired by the South African Casspir mine-protected vehicle, the Buffalo is used for mine-resistant ambush protection, route clearance, asset protection, and command and control. About 238 Buffalo A2 vehicles have been delivered to the U.S. military globally.

Work will occur at GD’s facility in Sterling Heights, Mich. The estimated completion date is March 10, March 2018.

Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.
