FLIR Corp. [FLIR] has introduced a new version of its popular handheld identiFINDER radiation detector, the identiFINDER 2, with improved identification and additional features. The new unit still has the three button interface and adds improved nuclide identification, transflective color display to improve viewing in bright sunlight, Bluetooth, reachback and GPS capabilities as well as a web interface. The devices will be available with a 1.4-inch by 2-inch NaI detector and optional neutron detector in the standard version or as an ULTRA model with LED stabilization. Additional models will be rolled out in the coming months. “With the introduction of the identiFINDER 2, we are reaffirming our commitment to address our customers’ needs and maintaining the place that the identiFINDER holds as best-in-class radiation detection and identification technology,” says Juergen Stein, president of the radiation detection business units of ICx. ICx is a subsidiary of FLIR. Over 10,000 identifFINDERs are deployed worldwide.
