The State Department approved a possible $150 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) request to Finland for Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) M31A1 Unitary and M30A1 Alternative Warhead Rockets in pods and associated equipment, parts and logistical support.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the potential sale on Nov. 9.

The requested FMS would include 40 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket pods: 15 pods of M31A1 Unitary Missiles (six missiles per pod for a total of 90 missiles) and 25 pods of M30A1Alternative Warhead Missiles (six missiles per pod for a total of 150 missiles).

The sale also includes publications, personnel training and training equipment, software development, U.S. government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support.

The primary contractor would be Lockheed Martin [LMT].

Finland would use the rocket capability to strengthen and secure its national borders while improving its capability to meet current and future threats, DSCA said in a statement.

Implementation of the FMS would not require the assignment of additional U.S. government or contractor representatives to Finland.
