Gregg Your
Chief of Command Information/Public Access Web Content Manager
U.S. Joint Forces Command
Gregg spent ten years as an award-winning Navy public affairs professional working in print, photojournalism, broadcast and media operations. After his active duty service, he worked in the commercial information technology industry on the staff of Canon Information Technology Systems.
He then joined the Cox Communications interactive media division, developing and improving the presentation of news and information for a nationwide network of over thirty locally-focused Web sites. Forover a year, he was the director for news and sports content for the site rated number one in the Hampton Roads market. As a key player in the network’s interactive coverage of the attack on USS Cole, he led the news content effort which yielded the single largest day of Web news traffic on the Cox network prior to 9/11. Additionally, he redesigned and managed the Norfolk Tides Web Site for the 2000 season, turning it in to one of the top Triple A team sites in America according to USAToday’s Baseball Weekly. Elements of that design are still in use today.
Gregg returned to work for the government in early 2001 as the driving force behind the redesign and expansion of U.S. Joint Forces Command’s (USJFCOM) web presence. Consistently improved through redesign and addition of new capabilities, the site has been recognized formally and informally by numerous government and media organizations as a forward-thinking example of the way to tell a complex story in a clear, coherent fashion. He is regularly sought out by other communicators inside and outside of the Department of Defense for his advice regarding social media and effective digital communication.
Gregg has built a content team capability that utilizes a publish once, use in many media approach, allowing USJFCOM to do more with less.
