Jerry Warner is president of Defense Life Sciences, LLC, a company engaged in biotechnical and other innovative approaches for renewable and alternative energy. DLSci conducts R&D, product development, commercial sales, commercial consulting and analytical support for various government agencies. It recently deployed two “Tactical Garbage to Energy” systems for operational testing to Victory Base Camp, Iraq.

 

During his military career COL (Ret) Warner served as a combat officer in the Army with multiple leadership positions in a variety of units, and with service in Asia, Europe, Central America, the Middle East and East Africa. His last position was in the Office of the Secretary of Defense--Net Assessment (OSD-NA), projecting long-term strategic competitions between the U.S. and other nation states and entities.

 

On retirement from the military in 2002, Warner started Defense Life Sciences, LLC, focusing on biotechnology and life sciences applications for national defense. He recently served as member of the Obama Campaign Defense Policy Task Force, and was coordinator for the Obama Defense Energy Security Panel. In August, he coauthored a Brookings Institution report, “Fueling the Balance,” that recommended including targets for reducing energy consumption and increasing use of renewable fuels in the next Quadrennial Defense Review, which is due to Congress in early 2010.

 

Warner is a 1976 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He holds an MS in Operations Research and Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School, and an MS in National Security Strategy, with a second in Information Strategies Concentration Program from the National War College.
