DynCorp International [DCP] on Monday said it has agreed to acquired Phoenix Consulting Group, Inc., a small firm that provides proprietary training courses and materials and management consulting services to the intelligence community, in a deal that would expand the company’s services to the intelligence community.

Terms of the pending acquisition were not disclosed. DynCorp, which expects the deal to close in October, said it is funding the acquisition with cash on hand.

Phoenix, which is based in Northern Virginia, has about 400 employees. The company’s offerings include training courses for professionals within the intelligence, counter- intelligence, special operations and law enforcement communities, and strategic, professional and technical advisory support services to government and military organizations.

“This acquisition is consistent with our goal of accelerating growth, expanding service offerings and penetrating new segments,” William Ballhaus, DynCorp International president and CEO, said in a statement. “Phoenix’s talent complements DynCorp International’s business and extends our ability to deliver compelling services to the intelligence community and national security clients.”

Phoenix will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary and be consolidated as a business unit within the Global Stabilization and Development Solutions division.

KippsDeSanto & Co. served as Phoenix’s financial adviser on the transaction.
