The Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) on Sept. 18 did not approve a Milestone A decision for the Air Force’s Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) recapitalization program, according to a service spokeswoman.

Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said Tuesday in a statement the service has some action items to accomplish so everyone “more clearly understands” the program risks and technical details. She said she did not have a timeline for when the next Milestone A decision would take place.

Northrop Grumman [NOC], the incumbent on the original JSTARS, is teaming with General Dynamics’ [GD] Gulfstream to offer a Gulfstream business jet solution while Boeing [BA] is offering a solution based on one of its commercial airliners. Lockheed Martin [LMT] is pairing with Canada’s Bombardier to offer one of Bombardier’s business jet platforms.
