Curtiss-Wright Corp. [CW] this week said it has agreed to the surface technologies business from the German chemical firm BASF, expanding its current capabilities in coatings technology.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Thermal spray coating are synergistic with our current offering of highly engineered metal treatment services,” Martin Benante, chairman and CEO of Curtiss-Wright, said in a statement. “We anticipate leveraging this technology for additional growth opportunities across our global network of metal treatment service facilities.”

The BASF surface technologies business supplies metallic and ceramic thermal spray coatings primarily for the aerospace and power generation markets. The business had $29 million in sales last year and has 150 employees at several facilities in the United States.
