Curtiss-Wright [CW] on Friday said it has acquired Ireland-based ACRA Control, Ltd., a designer and producer of data acquisition technology and telemetry ground stations for commercial aerospace and defense customers.

Curtiss-Wright paid $61 million in cash for ACRA, which will operate within the Integrated Sensing division of Curtiss-Wright Controls.

ACRA’s key technologies are modular data acquisition systems, solid state recorders, Ethernet switches and networking components, wireless data transmission, telemetry ground stations and ground station analysis software.

“This acquisition launches Curtiss-Wright Controls into a significant global market, leveraging our pedigree as a leading supplier of mission critical electronics products and our financial resources,” David Adams, co-chief operating officer of Curtiss-Wright, said in a statement. “The addition of ACRA’s airborne data acquisition system technology to our electronics and avionics product offerings will provide an immediate leadership position in the dynamic worldwide aviation test and instrumentation market.”

Curtiss-Wright also said that ACRA’s 60-plus hardware and software engineers will help expand its development capability, by adding specialized skills in data acquisition, embedded recording, networking, and analysis software.

ACRA has 128 employees and has a subsidiary in Maryland serving as sales center for North and South America.
