The Coast Guard estimates the total cost–including long lead materials, construction, test and evaluation, and program management–for the fourth National Security Cutter (NSC) will be about $100 million more than the total cost for the third NSC. The total estimated cost for the third NSC, which is in construction, is pegged at around $504.6 million. The Oct. 7 issue of Defense Daily reported that the total estimated cost for the fourth vessel would be around $740 million.
