CBP Plans $6M Award to Smiths Detection for Portal System

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says it plans to award Smiths Detection

about $6.2 million under the Container Security Initiative for an upgraded scanning system that will consist of  a medium-energy CAB 2000 MA Portal System, server, software, optical character reading cameras, license plate reader system, lighting and processors, network hardware, traffic control devices, and training. The contract is being awarded to expedite the life-cycle replacement of two CAB 2000 systems deployed at Pakistan’s Port Qasim under the CSI. Under the initiative, CBP scans outbound cargo headed to the U.S. from the port. Each CAB 2000 MA system consists of two units valued at $2.8 million each with an additional cost of about $660,000 for the required spares kits.

Army Awards BAE $13M Bridge for AIE Program

The Army Contracting Command in support of the Joint Product Manager Force Protection Systems has awarded BAE Systems a potential two-year $12.5 million bridge contract to execute delivery orders under the Automated Installation Entry (AIE)-2 program. The delivery orders will support the Joint Product Manger during preparation of the AIE-3 solicitation. Under the acquisition BAE will provide hardware and software for military installations. AIE automates access control processes for authorized and registered personnel entering an installation.

L-3 Receives $3M from TSA for EDS Installation

L-3 Communications [LLL] has received a $3.2 million task order from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the installation, integration and networking of medium-speed explosives detection systems (EDS) at five airports. The airports are Bismarck Municipal Airport, Mont., Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Md., Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, Mass., Orlando International Airport, Fla., and Northwest Florida Regional Airport. The task order supports the recapitalization of the company’s older medium-speed EDS systems that have reached the end of their life-cycle with new systems that provide improved detection capability.

Implant Sciences Receives Potential $2M from DHS S&T for Next-Gen ETD

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) branch has awarded Implant Sciences [IMSC] a potential $2 million contract to develop next-generation explosives trace detection (ETD) screening systems, the company says. The award follows Implant’s proposal to a Broad Agency Announcement from S&T that seeks next-generation ETD technologies with expanded capabilities to further promote passenger safety and homeland security.  “We believe the next generation of ETDs can significantly further increase passenger safety, reduce false positives, and create a better travel experience with respect to security screening,” says Glenn Bolduc, Implant’s president and CEO.

Sensis Nabs $10M USCIS Award for Outreach Services

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has awarded Sensis Inc. a potential $9.8 million contract to provide public education and outreach services for the E-Verify and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements programs. The initial award amount is $3.2 million.
