Army Awards Leidos $47M for Emergency Management Modernization

The Army has awarded Leidos [LDOS] task orders worth up to $47 million for the engineering, design and fielding support for the emergency Management Modernization Program (EM2P). The task orders are for Enhanced 9-1-1 and Mass Warning and Notification (MWN), with Network Alerting and Telephone Alerting System. Work will be performed at Army installations within and outside the Continental U.S. Under the E9-1-1 task order, Leidos will provide site surveys, designs, procurement, fielding, training and support of E9-1-1 systems including integration with computer-aided dispatch and land-mobile radio systems. Under the MWN task order, the company will provide an enterprise system for rapidly notifying installation personnel of hazards, threats or emergencies. The EM2P is the single integrated acquisition program for the design, procurement, fielding, new equipment training, and life-cycle management of emergency management capabilities in support of Army installations.

CBP Awards Smiths Detection $14M to Maintain Cargo Scanners

Smiths Detection says it has received a $14.1 million contract from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide supplies, parts and services to maintain HCVM and HCVG X-Ray cargo scanners that are used by the agency to screen vehicles and freight for explosives and contraband at ports and border crossings. The order is part of a larger indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract worth up to $62.5 million. The order also includes program management services, configuration management, warranty transitions, preventative and corrective maintenance, and X-Ray systems.

Dynasil Gets $4M in Energy Dept. Grants for Nuke Detection

Dynasil Corp. [DYSL] says its contract research subsidiary RMD Inc. has received four grants worth $4 million for nuclear detection efforts from the Department of Energy under Phase 2 Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. “Advanced nuclear detection materials are being developed for the Department of Energy to further replace helium-3 in the critical areas of homeland security and nuclear fuel accountability,” says Peter Sulick, chairman, president and CEO of Dynasil. Kanai Shah, president of RMD, says, “These Phase II grants capitalize on our technical and scientific capability in the development of scintillation materials and solid state sensors for nuclear detection.”

Kratos Nabs $4M for Security System Integration at World Trade Center

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] says its Public Safety & Security Solutions division has received $4.3 million in orders for security systems integration at the World Trade Center facility in New York City. Kratos says that it will design, engineer, deploy and integrate into command and control infrastructure security system surveillance, analytics, access control and other unique security related assets. The company is the prime security integrator for the Freedom Tower at the World Trade Center. Kroatos says that the Public Safety & Security Solutions division is expected to grow 15 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013 with continued strong sales and earnings growth in 2014.
