ManTech Nabs $128M Award to Provide Support to CBP Acquisition Office

ManTech International [MANT] says it has received a five-year, $128 million task order to provide broad-based program management and engineering support to the Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Acquisition. “ManTech will support acquisition functons as well as engineering capabilities and requirements to ensure the highest levels of performance executing CBP’s mission of safeguarding our nation’s borders,” says Kevin Phillips, president and CEO of ManTech. “With our many years of experience in acquisition, systems engineering, program management and government contracting, ManTech will provide support to CBP in their mission of acquisition governance, oversight and procurement, as well as a wide range of engineering services across all CBP mission areas.”

OSI Systems Gets $10M EDS Follow-on Order

OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems Division has received a $10 million follow on order to provide additional units of its Real Time Tomography (RTT) 110 explosive detection system to a “prominent international airport in Europe.” The EDS systems are used to automatically screen checked bags for explosives. OSI says the award includes related maintenance and spares support. “We are so excited to continue supporting this customer’s upgrade of its checked baggage screening systgems to ECAC’s latest aviation threat detection standards,” says Deepak Chopra, chairman and CEO of OSI.  The RTT 110 is a solid-state EDS and has passed the European Civil Aviatin Conference (ECAC) Hold Baggage System EDS Standard 3 threat detection requirement. The system has been installed a “numerous airports and air logistics providers,” the company says.

Smiths Detection Receives Contract for Checkpoint CT Scanners in Japan Airport

Smiths Detection says it has received a contract from Central Japan International Airport Co. Ltd to provide computed tomography (CT) and advanced technology (AT) scanners at airport checkpoints as well as smart lanes to increase security and passenger throughput rates. The equipment will be deployed at Chubu Centrair International Airport by the third quarter of 2019. The contract includes the CT-based HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX carry-on baggage scanner, the HI-SCAN 6040-2is HR AT X-Ray system to facilitate automated screenings and enhance explosives detection, the HI-SCAN 7555aTiX automatics explosives detection system for screening large items, and iLane.evo, which is an automated screening lane that is modular and features automatic tray-handling and interfaces fro remote screening. Smiths Detection says the CT scanners will enable automatic detection of explosvies while allowing passengers to keep liquids and electronics in their carry-on bags during screening. The U.S. Transportaton Security Administration recently selected Smiths to provide 300 of its 6040 CTiX systems for U.S. airports. That award is being protested by L3 Technologies [LLL].

DoD Awards FLIR $48M for Sensor Upgrade to NBC Recon Vehicle

FLIR Systems [FLIR] has received a potential $48.1 million contract from the Defense Department’s Joint Progrem Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense in support of the Nuclear Bioloogical Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle Sensor Suite Upgrade program for the Army. The award was made using an Other Transaction Authority Agreement. Flir will be the lead integrators in the modernization of the Army’s NBCRV system and will develop a platform agnostic modular mission payloard that integrates multiple chmical, biological and radiological sensors into a flexible command and control system. FLIR says the C2 system will allow for data integration from the various sensors to enable automation of certain tasks, reducing the workload on the warfighter. The C2 system will allow for collaboraton between manned Stryker wheeled vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, and sensor integrated drones.

Patronus Receives $43M Contract for Guard Services in Kentucky

The Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Service has awarded Patronus Systems a potential $43 million contract to provide armed protective security officer services at various locations throughout Kentucky. The contract has a one-year base period, four one-year options, and a six-month option extension. The award is a small business set aside.

DTRA Awards Leidos $34M for Biological Engagement Program

The Defense Department’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has awarded Leidos [LDOS] a $34.1 million contract modification for scientific and technical services in support of various projects under the Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP), which is part of the Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) Program. The mission of the CTR program is to prevent the proliferation or use of weapons of mass destruction by working with partner nations to secure, eliminate, detect and interdict WMD-related systems and materials. Like the CTR, the BTRP prevents the proliferation of biological weapons and related components, technologies and expertise. A DTRA spokesman tells HSR that Leidos is the initial contractor for the BTRP’s Science and Technical Engagement Partnership contract. DTRA says it received 11 offers for the work. The work runs through May 2020 if all options are exercised.
