Smiths Detection Nabs $11M Contract for EDS at Indy Airport

The Transportation Security Administration has awarded Smiths Detection a $10.9 million contract to provide 10 medium-speed explosive detection systems (EDS) for checked baggage screening at Indianapolis International Airport. The contract has a five-year performance period.

Aware on Fujitsu Team for UK Biometric Matching System

Aware, Inc. [AWRE] says will provide software and services for a central biometric services system for the United Kingdom that is being integrated by Fujitsu Services Limited under a five-year $38 million contract. The biometric matcher system will be for law enforcement, border management, and immigration applications. Award will contribute the biometric matcher integration hub and it’s Biometric Services Platform.

Navy Awards DetectaChem Contract for Handheld Explosive Detector

DetectaChem says it has received a $10 million sole-source indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract from the Navy for its SEEKERe handheld explosive detection kit. The company says its patented automated colorimetrics provide accurate trace detection for nitroaromatics, nitramines, nitrate esters, homemade explosives, inorganic nitrates, peroxides, chlorates and derivatives in a single test. The company says it expects to supply 498 of the kits to the Navy globally.

DHS Awards Diversified Protection $33M Security Guard Contract

The Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Service has awarded Diversified Protection Corp. a potential five-year $33.3 million contract to provide protective security officer services in various locations throughout South Carolina. The award is a small business set aside.

Synergy Wins $400M Coast Guard Award for APLES II

The Coast Guard has awarded Synergy Business Innovation & Solutions, Inc. a potential $400 million contract for the Application Product Lines Enterprise Services (APLES) II. Under the competitive small business contract, Synergy will provide software engineering services for full life-cycle support for Coast Guard enterprise software applications supporting six Department of Homeland Security and Coast Guard product lines including finance, human resources, vessel tracking applications, logistics, operations, and enterprise information services. Synergy is based in Northern Virginia and is a minority-owned small disadvantaged business with 70 employees and $13 million in annual sales, according to the company’s website.

TSA Awards CEIA $13M for Support Services

CEIA USA Ltd. has received a potential $12.5 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract from the Transportation Security Administration to provide security technology support services. CEIA supplies TSA with walk-through metal detectors and Bottle Liquid Scanners.

TSA Awards L3 $7M for Medium Speed EDS

The Transportation Security Administration has awarded L3 Technologies [LLL] a $7.5 million contract for medium-speed explosive detection systems (EDS). The contract is part of the agency’s ongoing recapitalization of aging machines. In a separate award announcement, which redacts the value of the contract, TSA says it is procuring 10 eXaminer 6700 medium-speed EDS for installation at four airports. The new machines will be integrated into the baggage handling systems, a company spokeswoman tells HSR.

Coast Guard Awards L3 $31M to Support C4ISR Systems

L3 Technologies [LLL] has received a potential $31million contract from the Coast Guard to provide sustainment support services for the company’s proprietary C4ISR systems that are on the service’s vessels and in certain facilities. The contract is for five years. The Coast Guard says the company’s equipment is on Fast Response Cutters and National Security Cutters, in District 7 Command Centers, Training Center Petaluma, and a communications center, integration and test facility in New Jersey.

DTRA Selects Six Companies for $970M CTRIC III Award

The Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has selected six companies to compete for task orders worth up to $970 million under the Cooperative Threat Reduction Integrating Contract (CTRIC) III effort. The companies are Black and Veatch, Raytheon [RTN], Parsons’ government services business, PAE, AECOM’s [ACM] URS Federal Services business, and CH2M Hill Inc. The Defense Department says the mission of the Cooperative Threat Reduction program is to partner with willing countries, technologies, facilities, and expertise.
